About Jenifer Swallow

I am an award-winning lawyer, innovator and advisor to technology businesses, legal businesses, policy makers and more.

My experience spans more than 2 decades in business, law, public policy, and operations, working internationally, across sectors, with a focus on growth and innovation.

Working at the forefront of technology has been a recurring theme in my work.  From helping my earliest clients at a City law firm harness the then emerging world of the internet, to launching some of the most popular (and compliance-complex) online consumer products of their time, to helping fintech shake up the world of finance, to supporting transformation in law through tech.

As a lawyer, I have focused on helping people and organisations make great decisions, congruent with their organisational purpose and wider societal context.  Alongside that work, I discovered a passion for people and a talent for challenging and advancing them. My work evolved beyond law, to include business leadership, innovation, human resources and operations – leading and scaling teams, processes and companies. I see the potential for all of us of organisations working to serve customers and stakeholders with integrity underpinning impact.

For me it is ultimately all about people and purpose. It is to these things that I focus my energy.

As well as being part of founding teams, as CEO of the government-backed initiative LawtechUK I have been through the founding journey myself, establishing and delivering on a vision, securing funding, while innovating and influencing at the highest levels in state institutions.

I now advise and coach tech founders, boards, lawyers, policy makers and others on legal, innovation and strategy matters, through my business jeniferswallow.com. I also serve on expert panels and advisory boards, facilitate and speak at events, and participate in a variety of innovation and pro bono initiatives. For example, I am an advisor to a government funded academic project exploring the lessons of the Post Office Horizon Scandal for lawyers’ ethics and corporate governance, which you can read about here.
